Email to Log Entry Just Got BETTER!!
Email to Log Entry Just Got BETTER!! Part 1: Email to Log: How To (May 2011) Part 2: This is Part 2 Part 3: How To: Create a New User from an Email (!!!!) (Jan 2012) I had an idea a few months ago regarding my #1 favorite feature in JibberJobber, which is the ability to create a Log Entry just by sending an email to the server. Were still working on other enhancements, but we I just saw one released yesterday that thrilled me! If you dont know what the Email to Log Entry (aka: Email2Log) feature is, read this post, and watch the 10 minute video (here at the same link). Okay, now that we are on the same page, heres the problem. Lets say that I email you, and that goes into the Log Entry I have for your contact record. You email me back, and I reply, you reply, I reply, you reply before we know it, there are 15 different replies in this thread. Some of those might have become Log Entries, if I did the Email2Log feature so your record has numerous Log Entries with parts of the conversation. It can be too much, and there will be a lot of duplicated data. Not fun to sift through. Heres the solution: You can now add a special string (or, series of characters) that tells the server to not record anything after the string. You should make a unique, weird string that someone wont type in on their own heres what I did: Set it up under My Account, Email Address tab: This is a NEW field I just saw it yesterday Notice my string is a series of ~! yours can be whatever you want, but make it UNIQUE (something that others might not create on their own like xoxoxo). Next, I went into my email and sent an email to myself to test it: The FROM email has to match a From Email in the setup page (click image to get to setup page). The TO email has to match an email for one of your JibberJobber Contacts. This is the special ultra-secretive email address that you set up on the setup page) This is my special string I will create one that most people wont even notice/see. This isnt my final Log End Line. Notice I want everything up to this should go: in the log entry, but nothing after that does it work? Lets jump over to the Log Entry to test it: YES! Victory! this is the emails subject line, which is the Log Entry subject line, This is the text BEFORE the special string nothing after the string shows up Its really a simple thing, but it will help keep your Log Entries much cleaner! Remember, this is a premium feature just happens to be my favorite feature. If you are considering an upgrade, check the specials/bundles here. Email to Log Entry Just Got BETTER!! Outdoor Adventures You Can Have This Winter
Outdoor Adventures You Can Have This Winter Itâs cold out already. Every time you look up, all you can see are grey clouds. Whenever you venture outside, you put on at least four layers, along with a hat, scarf and gloves. And donât forget the snow-defying, rain-resistant boots you have that always look 2 sizes too big. Seriously, all you want to do is get into your warm PJs, grab a steaming mug of cocoa and snooze on the sofa. Welcome to winter. Okay, we all need to lighten up. Winterâs tough enough without everybody moping around and avoiding the outdoors at all costs. Hereâs some pretty amazing adventures you can have during the winter. Get Skating I wouldnât recommend waiting for a lake to freeze over, but if you like to try something different and festive, you can plan to go ice skating with some friends. Look up your local ice skating rink and see what events they have on this winter. Ice rinks usually do really fun discos or fancy dress nights which you can book for a group of you and your friends to go to. Make sure you prepare for it properly and itâll be the best reason youâve found to fall over on ice all season Visit Some Christmas Markets Mostly based on the original German markets, Christmas markets are an excellent way to get into the Christmas spirit. Wander round at your leisure to take in all the sights that these picturesque market stalls offer. Feeling the cold? Grab a mug of hot chocolate to keep you going as you wander round this winter wonderland. Not only is this an amazing day out, these markets usually sell tasty, traditional German food. Theyâre also an awesome place to find unusual, unique gifts for your family and friends. Find out where your closest market is using this website. Go For A Nature Walk Get those huge boots on and go for a stroll! Winter may be cold but it is truly beautiful. Make sure you experience all its charm by heading to your local park or nature reserve and wandering aimlessly. Itâs great exercise and walking has so many benefits for your mental and physical wellbeing. This is a great activity for kids too. Before you go, prepare a checklist of things they can spot on your walk and make a note of them as you walk around. Flowers, birds, pine cones and different types of trees are good things to look for. Reward everybody afterwards with a warm snack whilst the kids draw pictures of what they saw. Winter may seem dreary, cold and wet. In fact, itâs an amazingly beautiful time of year that you should definitely explore! Have you got any tips for things to do this winter? Let me know what you get up to.

How Do You Get Hired First, Dont Lose! - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career
How Do You Get Hired First, Dont Lose! - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career In the Amazon.com bestselling job hunting book âHeadhunterâ Hiring Secrets: The Rules of the Hiring Game Have Changedâ¦.Forever! we teach you how to approach getting hired using game theory. In other words: Hiring is definitely a game It has rules (which have dramatically changed since 2009) And there are strategies And when you approach going after your next job as a âgame,â not only is it more fun, but you significantly increase the probabilities that the outcomes will be in your favor. Whats game theory? In game theory, a game is an event or situation involving two or more players, in which each player may win or lose based upon the decisions that they themselvesâ"or othersâ" make or fail to make. Furthermore, in game theory, strategy refers to the various options that a player can choose. Every player in the hiring game has a set of options and must choose one. A good strategy will be one that not only thinks through the various possible options but also includes the range of various possible outcomes that could result from implementing each choice, i.e., thinking through the various âuncertainties.â Thus, one set of strategies that a player can choose between is a strategy of âinclusionâ or a strategy of âexclusion.â When faced with these two options from another player, you then should choose between a strategy of âplaying to winâ or âplaying not to lose.â In the âhiring gameâ the strategy often played by the hiring company is a strategy of exclusion, NOT inclusion. In other words, all too often the hiring company, instead of looking for all of the reasons to hire someone, find all of the reasons to NOT hire someone. Thus, you as a player in the game on the âcandidateâ side, must, in turn, âplay to not lose.â Trying out One of the best analogies is high school football âtry outs.â Even though I fully understand that 95% of the U.S. population will never have tried out for football, there really is no other comparison as applicable or appropriate to the hiring process. Read on and see why. Each fall, at virtually any high school in the nation, upward of 200 young men, in the case of the larger schools, show up to try out for the football team. All of the hopefuls know that, on average, only about one-third of them will actually make the team. Still, they show up, hoping they will be among the chosen few. The odds facing a job candidate, of course, are even worse! Only one candidate is going to be successful for any given job opportunity and the number of applicants generally far exceeds 200! In order to quickly âseparate the wheat from the chaff,â most football coaches hold the dreaded âtwo-a-dayâ practice sessions, usually one two-hour session in the morning and another two-hour session in the afternoon. (These afternoon sessions can be particularly grueling in states like Texas or Oklahoma, where high school football is practically a religion, and afternoon temperatures are still flirting with the mid- to high-90s at this time of the day!) This extremely challenging regimen goes on for about two weeks in the typical high school football program. Making the cut At each practice session, the candidates run, run, run, oftentimes until many literally fall to the ground, exhausted and, at least for the time being, defeated. The goal, of course, is to push these young men to their absolute physical and psychological limits. Some of the hopefuls donât have to wait to be âcut,â they merely take themselves out of contention because they either canâtâ"or wonâtâ"make the sacrifices necessary to become part of the team. To the casual observer, it appears that the football coaches are merely trying to determine which of, say, 50 to 70 young men they will actually select for the final team roster. In fact, nothing could be farther from the truth. What the coaches are actually trying to determine during this two-week period is which of the other 130 to 150 young aspirants they can eliminate from further consideration. What does this have to do with job hunting? In a word: EVERTHING! Because thatâs precisely how many, if not most, employers view any given pool of job candidates. They are not looking for whom to include, they are looking for those whom they can exclude! Harsh? Unfeeling? Not âfairâ? Yes, yes, and yes, but thatâs still the way it works, and you need to understand this right from the start of your job search. Failure to understand this key concept puts you behind the rest of âthe packâ before the try outs have even begun. So, just as is the case with the âfootball tryoutsâ analogy, you had better show up ready to âplay not to loseââ" and this is where personal branding comes in. You must make sure the brand âyouâ is sharper, more polished and differentiated than the âotherâ brands (i.e., all of the other candidates going after the same job) so that you wonât be among the first to be âcutâ (excluded). Remember, the strategy for you in any game where one side is playing a game of exclusion is for you to âplay to not lose,â i.e., make sure you dont get eliminated! 3 Tutoring Jobs You May Not Have Considered - CareerAlley
3 Tutoring Jobs You May Not Have Considered - CareerAlley We may receive compensation when you click on links to products from our partners. While most teachers are aware of the tutoring positions available at their normal school, few look beyond that to find additional educational jobs, even when they need the money or want to try something new. There are plenty of unique tutoring opportunities out there for people with teaching degrees, and if youre willing to put forth a small amount of effort to find them, you can find a position that you enjoy while making some extra money to supplement your salary. SAT-Preparedness There are several programs available for students who are anxious to do well on the SATs and other pre-college exams. Teachers can tutor students through these programs, and can often get a fairly large hourly wage for their work. For many teachers, a chance to work with a single student at a time, and specifically with one that wants to do his or her best, can be a breath of fresh air. Look into businesses available in your area and find one that works with your schedule, and you can quickly increase your salary with this supplemental income. Private Babysitting/Tutoring If youre not averse to hanging out at someone elses home for the evening, you can help out a family and make some cash by being both a babysitter and a tutor. Having a teaching degree shows that youre responsible and qualified, and you can ask for a competitive salary while you spend a couple of evenings a week at the childs home, helping with homework and working on their problem areas while his or her parents are out or working. The student will get the one-on-one attention they need, the parents get the chance to accomplish what they need to do, and you get some extra cash without much stress or work. Adult ESL Education If you live in an area with a high level of immigration, you may be able to find a job tutoring someone in the English language. Often, you dont even need to know the persons home language (though it can be very useful), and simply helping with vocabulary, sentence structure, and pronunciation can greatly help someone new to the country. Depending on the area and how you find the position, this job can be a classroom-style teaching job with several students at once, or it can be simply sitting and having coffee and a conversation. If you find the work through a company, check them thoroughly to prepare you for the expectations, as some may want you to write a syllabus, give quizzes, and have lesson plans available, while others just ask that you clock your hours. While normal tutoring at your school can help increase your salary, many teachers look for something that gives them a chance to try something new while still working in a situation theyre already comfortable with. If you have a teaching degree and an educational background, there are many different types of tutoring jobs that can increase your paycheck while allowing you to be in new and interesting situations with students you would otherwise not have a chance to work with. 2012 Recruitment Whats Behind the Buzzwords - CareerEnlightenment.com
InfographicsGoodbye to pages of text. Hello to the infographic. Be it because of information overload, or because weâre forever time-poor, we increasingly want information to be visually summarized. Hence the discussions about visually representing jobseekers. And why not? Infographics can be powerful book-covers that provide recruiters an immediate grasp of a candidateâs capabilities and skill-set. Of course, you still need quick and easy access to the data behind the graphic for a deeper-dive when necessary. But watch out for the rise of irrelevant infographics too â" a graphic that, while looks smart, adds little value. Beware.MobileWith projections that mobile internet should take over desktop internet usage by 2014, recruitment is going mobile. And thatâs good news for everyone. Candidates, after hearing about an opportunity, will no longer have to wait until theyâre by their desktop to apply. Applications on-the-go â" whenever, wherever. Mobile is just as import ant for those doing the hiring too. Recruitment delays and bottlenecks, such as the hiring manager not finding the time whilst traveling to review the short-listed resumes, are coming to an end, finally!Candidate engagement personal brandItâs no secret: candidate-experience has traditionally not been a top priority in organizationsâ recruiting strategies â" to say the least. We hear story after story about disgruntled candidates and their inevitable trails of destruction. David Head, Publisher of Recruitment InternationalMagazine said in an interview to Innovate CV, that one of the biggest upsets candidates have with the recruitment process is that they donât have clarity on the status of their application. âTransparencyâ and âcommunicationâ are two words you can expect to increasingly hear in 2012.Existing technological innovations allow significantly more interaction with candidates even if streamlined and automated, candidates might even â" gasp â" enjoy the h iring process. Now fancy that. Ries and Troutâs classic marketing handbook Positioning: The Battle for your Mindadvocated back in 1981 using positioning strategy in career advancement. Given that hiring managers are only clicks away from finding out significant information about a candidate, the idea has been forced back on the table. The âbrand behind the candidateâ is using social media and other focused tools to provide hiring managers with a better insight into their suitability for a role. Traditional resumes just arenât satisfying enough.2012 will see the emergence of new innovative technologies. Some will work, and some wonât. Products not only need to take into account recruiting trends, but show how they build off one another. For example, social shouldnât compete with the Applicant Tracking System, but sit within its existing work flow. This yearâs trends have a unifying driving force: using technology to create opportunity. As long as that technology is pr actical and robust, recruiters and candidates can confidently embrace 2012âs challenges.
